The United Kingdom on March 23 denied reports that it is considering selling Typhoon fighter aircraft to Indonesia, AFM reported. The Times newspaper earlier reported that Jakarta had informally approached the United Kingdom to buy up to 24 warplanes, worth about 5 billion pounds ($8.1 billion). British Minister for International Security Strategy Gerald Howarth said there have been no such discussions. However, speaking at the Jakarta International Defense Dialogue summit, Howarth said he should be exploring any specific interest Indonesia may have.
