Russia: Situation In Libya Not ‘Crusade’ – President

It is unacceptable to call the situation in Libya a “crusade,” Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said March 21, Interfax reported. It is wrong to use terms that suggest a clash of civilizations, Medvedev said, and any assessment of the crisis should be as cautious as possible. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had earlier said the U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing action against the Libyan regime called to mind a “medieval call for a crusade.”
