Berlin Not Isolated Over Libya – FM

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has dismissed allegations that Berlin is politically isolated after refusing to join its NATO allies in military strikes on Libya, Reuters reported March 20. Like China and Russia, Germany abstained from the U.N. Security Council vote to authorize the use of force, breaking ranks with the United States, France and the United Kingdom. Many countries in the European Union understand and respect Germany’s decision, Westerwelle said, adding that Poland even shares its position on the matter.
